What this free Hogan practice includes

This is not the official Hogan suite, which is owned by Hogan Assessment Systems and delivered through Hogan-certified partners at a cost of $175 to $500+ per candidate. Our practice is a simulation using representative items across the 28 Hogan scales (7 on the HPI, 11 on the HDS, 10 on the MVPI). The goal is to expose you to the format, the item style, and the scale framework so you arrive at the real Hogan prepared.

You receive Sten-scale percentile output on each of the 28 scales, a leadership target overlay showing typical Fortune 500 executive benchmarks, and short notes on each scale's interpretation for hiring and development contexts.

. This item targets the Adjustment scale (emotional stability). 'True' pushes Adjustment up; 'False' pushes it down. Leadership targets typically call for high Adjustment (Sten 7+). Over-claiming (answering every Adjustment item as True when it is not accurate) triggers validity flags.

. This item targets the Bold derailer (executive arrogance). Answering 'True' pushes Bold up, which can flag executive grandiosity if the scale lands above the 90th percentile. The HDS catches derailers that leaders often do not see in themselves.

What the real Hogan suite feels like

The full Hogan leadership battery (HPI + HDS + MVPI) is roughly 575 items and takes 40 to 55 minutes. It is delivered through Hogan's online portal or through Hogan-certified consultants. No calculator, no scratch paper, no section breaks.

Hogan reports are structured reports delivered to the hiring organization. Candidates typically do not see their own results unless the employer offers a debrief, which is common for executive hires but uncommon for individual-contributor roles.

For senior hires, Hogan is often followed by a debrief with an executive coach. Candidates who can articulate their derailers and values openly usually outperform candidates who try to appear flawless. Self-awareness is the real signal Hogan is measuring.
