Section 1 · Know the test
SHL OPQ32r practice test: know the format before you take it
The OPQ32r is a personality questionnaire that many large employers send after you apply, often together with numerical and verbal reasoning tests. It does not test what you know. It asks how you like to work, and gives the employer a profile of 32 work styles to compare with the job.
This pack gives you a full practice run in the same format, then a practice profile, a consistency check and a comparison with six typical jobs. Try the first 3 blocks and the sample result free.
What one block looks like
Each screen shows three statements about how you behave at work. You choose:
- the one that is most like you, and
- the one that is least like you.
The third one is left in the middle. You answer every block, and you cannot say all three fit equally.
Why the format feels strange
Often all three statements are true of you, or none are. That is on purpose. The test wants to know which matters more to you, so it makes you rank good things against each other. This is called forced choice. It means you cannot score high on everything, which is why trying to look perfect does not work.
The hard part is stamina. Many people get tired in the second half and start clicking fast. That is where answers get random, and random answers make a messy profile. Practising the full length once is the best way to stay steady on the day.
The 32 scales, in three areas
How this practice run works
- Same shape as the real test: 104 blocks of three, most and least like you.
- Every statement is our own. None are copied from SHL, so do not expect to see these exact sentences on the day.
- Answer on first instinct, thinking about yourself at work. About 10 to 20 seconds a block is normal.
- Your progress is saved on this device. You can stop and come back.
- At the end you get a practice profile, a consistency check and a comparison with six typical jobs.
